Former Tesla Employees Face Allegations in Massive Internal Data Leak Case

A German tabloid received a breach of more than 100 GB of confidential data back in May, which included some unflattering information concerning Tesla.

More than 75,000 of its employees’ personally identifiable information was present in the documents, and the company now claims that insider malfeasance was responsible for the data breach.

Tesla accuses two former workers of the leak, which is claimed to have included Elon Musk’s social security number among other employees’ personal information.

It stated that it came to that decision after conducting an investigation in a data breach notice it submitted with the attorney general of Maine.

The two employees who are accused of leaking the data have been sued by the automaker, who also claims that their computer equipment has been seized. Also, it obtained court orders forbidding the employees from using, gaining access to, or sharing any additional Tesla-related data.

Along with the accusations, the document includes a sample letter that Tesla intends to write to any employees whose data was exposed.

Stolen Data Leak

As required by German law, Handelsblatt, the publication that was given access to the stolen information on May 10, has pledged to protect private information pertaining to both present and past employees.

But, it did cover consumer complaints about Tesla’s sophisticated driving assistance technologies, including over a thousand accidents, reports of phantom brakes, and rapid acceleration.

Additionally, it claimed that the manufacturer was more concerned with preserving its reputation than it was with resolving customer problems.

In order to keep complaints of the flaws in its ADAS systems from becoming public, Tesla is said to have employed evasive tactics and instructed representatives to avoid leaving paper trails with clients.

Additionally, the carmaker has been charged with employing comparable strategies to address client complaints about the driving ranges of its cars, which are alleged to be among the most optimistic in the automotive industry.
