Dodgers’ Victory Run Snapped as Marlins Blast 5 Homers to Triumph

On Friday night, the visiting Marlins defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-3 to end their winning streak, which had reached a season-high of 11 games. Jorge Soler was responsible for two of Miami’s five home runs.

For Miami, who won the first game of the three-game series, Jake Burger, Jacob Stallings, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. all hit three-pointers as the Hurricanes ended a tiny two-game losing streak.

The power show gave Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara (6-10), who gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings, more than ample run support. He had one walk and six strikeouts.

James Outman, Max Muncy, and Kei Betts all hit home runs for Los Angeles, which hadn’t dropped a game since August 5. Will Smith contributed with two hits of his own.

Tony Gonsolin (8-5) of the Dodgers was beaten mercilessly in 3 1/3 innings, surrendering 10 runs on eight hits. He fannered two and walked four.

Both leadoff batters hit solo home runs to start their teams’ halves of the first inning: Soler hit his 31st before Betts hit his 32nd in the bottom half.

On Friday night, the visiting Marlins defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-3 to end their winning streak, which had reached a season-high of 11 games.

After another single home run in the third, Soler gave the Marlins the lead once more. Miami took a 7-1 lead later in the inning after scoring three runs on a home run by Burger and two runs on a drive by Stallings.

In the fourth, the Marlins continued to attack. As a result of Soler drawing a leadoff walk and Luis Arraez’s subsequent double, Chisolm’s one-out home run made it 10-1 and put an end to Gonsolin’s night.

With a home run to start the fourth, Muncy brought the Dodgers within 10-2, but Los Angeles appeared to give up an inning later, removing Betts and star first baseman Freddie Freeman from the contest.

Miami scored again shortly after the two left, increasing its lead to 11-2 in the fifth inning thanks to Joey Wendle’s RBI triple.

When Outman hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth, Los Angeles got that run back.

After loading the bases with no outs in the ninth, the Dodgers had a rally planned. But, they were unsuccessful as Amed Rosario lined out, Outman struck out, and Miguel Rojas grounded out to finish the inning.

Shortstop Rojas threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
