NBA Feud Alert: Harden Labels Daryl Morey a Liar

The 10-time All-Star guard publicly criticized Philadelphia 76ers team president Daryl Morey on Monday while appearing at an Adidas media event in China, just two days after ESPN revealed that the team was concluding trade negotiations for James Harden.

According to several sources, Harden exercised his $35.6 million player option in June with the hope that the Philadelphia 76ers would locate a trade partner for him. Harden, however, is still playing in Philadelphia with no sign of a trade or a long-term deal.

As the former MVP tries to force his way off his third team in as many years, Harden’s relationship with Morey and the franchise appears to be getting worse.

According to numerous sources, Harden’s dissatisfaction with the 76ers and Morey is due to the absence of a long-term maximum deal offer.

Harden wants to go somewhere that will pay him the maximum salary if the 76ers aren’t willing to.

The 10-time All-Star guard publicly criticized Philadelphia 76ers team president Daryl Morey on Monday while appearing at an Adidas media event in China, just two days after ESPN revealed that the team was concluding trade negotiations for James Harden.

No teams, including the Los Angeles Clippers, Harden’s preferred destination, have been willing to part with the assets needed to complete the trade since Philadelphia’s asking price for Harden is “high,” according to ESPN.

Harden has completed his first complete campaign with the 76ers. The 33-year-old topped the league in assists per game and averaged 21 points per game.

Following a 54-win regular season, Philadelphia lost to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals after blowing a 3-1 lead. Harden scored 45 points in Philly’s victory in Game 1 and another 42 points in Game 4, but in the next two losses to close the series, he only managed to score 22 points overall on 7 of 27 shots.

On social media on Monday afternoon, Bleacher Report NBA writer Jason Dumas stated that Morey is “unmoved” by Harden’s remarks.

According to the article, Morey is “standing fast” to his position that Harden won’t be sold unless the 76ers receive fair value.

Also, Harden’s agent reportedly told his client not to make the remarks, according to Dumas.
