FBI Shoots Suspect Threatening President Joe Biden in Utah

Hours before President Joe Biden’s Wednesday arrival in the state, FBI agents shot and killed an armed Utah man who was allegedly making deadly threats against the vice president.

When the incident occurred at 6:15 am, special agents were attempting to serve a warrant on Craig Deleeuw Robertson’s Provo, Utah, residence, according to a statement from the FBI.

Two law enforcement sources who spoke to The Associated Press under the condition of anonymity to share details of an ongoing investigation said that Robertson had a weapon with him when the murder took place.

Following months of detailed internet threats against various prominent people, Robertson wrote on Monday that he had heard that Biden was visiting Utah and that he was planning to get out a camouflage suit and start wiping the dust off the M24 sniper rifle.

According to court filings, Robertson’s post was in response to the news. Neighbors described Robertson as a fragile, old man who needed a hand-carved stick to help him move.

Hours before President Joe Biden’s Wednesday arrival in the state, FBI agents shot and killed an armed Utah man who was allegedly making deadly threats against the vice president.

His age was 74 according to his online profile. They asserted that despite routinely carrying a gun, he didn’t represent a threat.

At the same time as the attack, Republicans, who have long positioned themselves as the party of law and order, have stepped up their criticism of law enforcement, notably the FBI.

Trump has frequently attacked the agency, despite the fact that Christopher Wray, the leader he picked, is already leading it. Wray has cautioned against the dangers of current rhetoric.

Some authorities have grown increasingly alarmed as the former president has stepped up his attacks on the FBI, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and the state and federal prosecutors who have just initiated three different criminal cases against him.

Prior to visiting a Salt Lake City Veterans Affairs hospital on Thursday to discuss the PACT Act, which increased benefits for veterans, Biden travelled to Utah on Wednesday.
