Chelsea Secure Moises Caicedo Transfer from Liverpool for Record $146 Million

Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to a $146 million transfer fee for Moises Caicedo.

Caicedo’s Chelsea medical is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday), and it is anticipated that the player will sign an eight-year contract with an additional season option on that day. As part of the agreement, Brighton will also have a sell-on clause.

The west London club had long been seen to be Caicedo’s top suitors, but Liverpool made a late move on Thursday, and their $139 million offer was approved by Brighton.

Nevertheless, on Friday, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp announced that a deal had been reached for his team to sign Caicedo, although he would not confirm whether the Ecuadorian international would be having a physical before the proposed transfer.

Tyler Adams, a member of the USMNT, was later dropped by Chelsea. Adams, 24, of Leeds United, had a $25 million active relegation release clause, and they had come very close to signing him.

Chelsea’s Transfer Triumph

Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to a $146 million transfer fee for Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea very probably remained the favorites to sign him despite having had their proposal accepted first due to Liverpool’s tardy arrival into negotiations and the Ecuadorian international’s current location in London.

Because of Liverpool’s tardy entry into discussions and the Ecuadorian international’s present location in London, Chelsea most likely continued to be the favorites to sign him even after having had their offer accepted first.

Following the departures of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Chelsea had been pursuing Caicedo all summer.

Romeo Lavia of Southampton, who is also on Liverpool’s radar, has drawn their interest. In the recent weeks, Lavia has received proposals from both Liverpool and Chelsea.

Alexis Mac Allister, Caicedo’s teammate in midfield, had already been sold by Brighton to Liverpool, a team they will face off against in the Europa League the following year.

In their opening Premier League game on Sunday, Chelsea tied 1-1 with Liverpool. The team led by Mauricio Pochettino will play again against West Ham on Sunday.
