Alleged ‘Cell’ Confinement: Missing Washington Girl’s Disturbing Situation Unfolds

Nearly two years after the disappearance of six-year-old Oakley Carlson in Washington state, newly revealed court documents shed light on the abuse suffered by her and her siblings at the hands of their uncooperative, drug-addicted biological parents.

The children, aged four, eight, and eleven, reported that Oakley was physically abused, confined, and deprived of food, allegedly spending time locked away under the stairs.

Oakley’s mother discouraged her siblings from discussing her, claiming she had been eaten by wolves. Oakley was last seen alive in February 2021, but her family home burned down in December 2021 before authorities cleared her disappearance.

Nearly two years after the disappearance of six-year-old Oakley Carlson in Washington state, newly revealed court documents shed light on the abuse suffered by her and her siblings at the hands of their uncooperative, drug-addicted biological parents.

Oakley’s mother, Jordan Bowers, was sentenced to prison for identity theft unrelated to the disappearance after serving time for child endangerment due to her children’s high methamphetamine levels.

Oakley’s father, Andrew Carlson, faced child abuse charges but was released due to his clean criminal history. Both parents obstructed the search for Oakley and were initially jailed, but no charges were filed regarding her disappearance.

The Department of Youth and Family Services has received numerous complaints about the family since 2013, including domestic violence, abuse, drug use, and neglect. Bowers fought the release of records related to her other children, claiming they were not involved in Oakley’s disappearance.

Oakley’s disappearance came to light when school staff visited her home due to a reported fire started by Oakley. Despite claims that Oakley ignited the fire, investigators believed it began in a microwave. The siblings stated that everyone escaped the fire except Oakley.

Criminal profiler John Kelly, who believed Oakley was alive, extended a reward for information leading to her safe return to now include information about her recovery, considering the escalated abuse details.
