Gabriel Caswell, a young 21-year-old worker employed at an animal shelter in Weatherford, Texas, has been taken into custody and is facing allegations of mistreating and even causing the deaths of kittens.
The revelation of his disturbing actions unfolded when security footage captured him engaging in the act of killing kittens within the confines of the shelter.
This disturbing incident followed an earlier inquiry into a surge in kitten fatalities that had been occurring at the shelter since the month of June. While initially suspected to be linked to disease, subsequent testing conclusively ruled out any disease-related factors.

On July 14, 2023, the shelter’s staff members were witnesses to a distressing incident involving Caswell mistreating a kitten to a severe degree.
The gravity of the situation prompted them to promptly alert local law enforcement. However, Caswell managed to evade the authorities by fleeing the scene before they arrived.
Nevertheless, he was later apprehended by law enforcement agents. Substantiating evidence from video footage confirmed his involvement, leading to his initial arrest on charges of cruelty towards animals.
As the investigation progressed, further scrutiny of video recordings uncovered additional instances of animal cruelty involving Caswell.
Consequently, on the 28th of July, he was subjected to a subsequent arrest for his involvement in more cases of animal mistreatment. The precise number of animal deaths directly attributed to his actions remains undetermined at this juncture.
The city, deeply saddened by the harm inflicted on these innocent creatures, expressed their profound sorrow.
