According to a top executive on Thursday, Ford Motor anticipates increasing software integration into its highly profitable Ford Pro commercial vehicle division’s trucks and vans to increase income per vehicle by $4,000 to $5,000.
The manufacturer will try to increase revenue using software- and data-driven fleet services, safety and security services, partial vehicle autonomy, and insurance, according to Navin Kumar, chief financial officer of Ford Professional.
The ability of Ford to provide and profit from those services will be improved in the middle of this decade, according to Kumar, who was speaking at a J.P. Morgan investor conference. The company will introduce its next-generation electric commercial vehicles with a new digital “intelligence” platform at that time.
He said that Ford Pro would be able to accomplish some difficult goals for 2026 with the help of the new platform, including raising the proportion of vehicles with paid software to approximately 36% and doubling the proportion of connected vehicles to nearly 60%.

According to Kumar, Ford Pro will keep providing a comprehensive range of gasoline-electric hybrid and all-electric vehicles.
Its second-generation EVs, including the pickup truck that will replace the F-150 Lightning, will make Ford more profitable due to their capacity to generate more income from software and services.
While denying that the current F-150 Lightning was profitable, Kumar claimed that it was not “cost optimized.”
Ford Pro has big hopes to grow its European commercial vehicle sector. It hopes to accomplish this by introducing novel software-driven solutions and new electric vehicle types.
Ford Pro intends to release the new Transit Custom van in the upcoming months, followed by the Transit Courier and Transit Custom electric models the following year.
The increased demand for a eco-friendly transportation options in the European market will be met by these new products.
