In response to an attack that took place in February, where an Israeli soldier and his brother were killed in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have taken action by demolishing the home of a Palestinian individual who was suspected of being involved in the attack.
This act occurred in the Askar camp, located near Nablus, and was executed as part of the Israeli Defense Forces’ policy to destroy the homes of individuals linked to acts of terrorism.
Despite this policy, it’s important to note that the targeted home was still inhabited by family members who were not connected to the attack.
During the operation to demolish the home, Israeli forces encountered resistance from armed individuals and rioters. This resistance resulted in clashes between the forces and the assailants, fortunately without causing any injuries.
The suspected perpetrator of the attack, Abdel Fattah Hussein Kharousha, was killed during an Israeli Defense Forces raid in March. This operation, which also resulted in the deaths of five other Palestinians, was carried out in the Jenin refugee camp.
The situation during the raid escalated to the point where Israeli soldiers had to resort to anti-tank missile fire to subdue the situation.
Tensions Rise in West Bank: Retaliation, Terror Strikes, and Human Toll
The attack on the Israeli soldier and his brother triggered a surge in violence in the West Bank. This escalation included retaliatory actions by Israeli settlers involving the destruction of Palestinian property, such as homes and vehicles, as well as physical assaults on individuals.
Throughout the course of the year, the region has witnessed a series of terror attacks that have led to casualties on both sides.
The ongoing conflict has claimed the lives of 26 people and caused serious injuries to others. Among the casualties, 168 Palestinians have lost their lives, predominantly in clashes with security forces or while carrying out attacks.
However, there have also been instances of civilians being caught in the crossfire or being targeted by Israeli settlers, resulting in a complex and challenging situation.
