Pennsylvania is launching a program that could put up to $975 directly into the pockets of qualified people in an effort to provide much-needed financial help.
This project, which is a part of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, aims to give out $140 million in rebates for property taxes and rent reduction.
You might be eligible for some extra money if you live in Pennsylvania and are 65 years of age or older, a widow or widower who is 50 years of age or older, or a disabled person who is at least 18 years old.
The eligibility requirements are $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 per year for renters. Notably, these income caps will not apply to homeowners or renters who get half of their Social Security benefits.
The American Rescue Plan Act provided $140 million in funding for the initiative. Pennsylvania residents who qualify have started getting cheques since July 1, with the standard rebate amounting to $650.
