Russia Voices Outrage Over Being Excluded from Saudi-Initiated Ukraine Talks

The discussions in Saudi Arabia between foreign leaders to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine were criticized by Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Monday. Moscow, unlike Kyiv, was not invited, thus the talks have “the tiniest added value,” according to Moscow.

Top government representatives from roughly 40 nations met for two days in Jeddah on Sunday in an effort to reach consensus on fundamental ideas for resolving the conflict, which has raged for more than 17 months.

But, the meeting was useless without Russia’s participation and without taking Moscow’s interests into account, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry. Moscow reiterated earlier statements that Russia is open to a diplomatic settlement that ends the war on its terms and is prepared to consider serious suggestions.

Nevertheless, Moscow’s earlier requests that would have given it time to increase its influence in the parts of Ukraine it has already conquered were refused by Zelenskyy’s advisor Mykhailo Podolyak.

There will be no Kyiv compromise on the Russian military’ complete withdrawal from the seized areas, he declared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

An accused Russian informant who gathered information about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s trip to the southern Mykolaiv area last month was caught, according to the Ukrainian Security Service, which announced the arrest on Monday.

The discussions in Saudi Arabia between foreign leaders to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine were criticized by Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Monday.

According to the report, Zelenskyy’s hostess was gathering data for an attack at the time of her visit.

She made an effort to determine Zelenskyy’s travel path, travel schedule, and stops in the area. The statement claimed without offering any proof that she was detained when she attempted to give the material to the Russians.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, when Zelenskyy refused to leave Kyiv as Moscow’s forces drew near, he has been a top target for the Kremlin.

He has served as one of Ukraine’s unanticipated trump cards in the conflict, helping to boost public morale through daily video addresses and becoming a well-known figure as he urges allies and others to support Ukraine.

According to regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin, Russian shelling struck a nine-story residential building in the city of Kherson on Monday as well, killing one person and injuring four others. As the Russians “spread the center portion of the city with fire,” he claimed Kherson had to face a “difficult night.”

Russian shelling on a village in the northern Kharkiv province resulted in the death of a 57-year-old lady and the wounding of four others, according to governor Oleh Syniehubov.
